She accused the leadership of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) of holding a "predetermined" primary inside a closed room without delegates. The move triggered a sharp public exchange with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, who mocked her loss while Yesufu fired back at his political record. Allies like former minister Oby Ezekwesili have since stepped in to defend Yesufu, claiming the internal democratic process was subverted to block outsiders.
Yesufu insists she remains committed to political reform and grassroots mobilization despite abandoning this specific bid.
