Iranian authorities have sentenced at least 30 people, including minors, to death following recent nationwide protests, according to Amnesty International and other rights groups.
Many of those sentenced, including teenagers and a wrestling champion, were convicted in expedited and allegedly unfair trials, often conducted online. Human rights organizations warn that hundreds more protesters, including children, are at risk of execution, and claim that confessions were obtained under torture. The international community and advocacy groups are calling for an immediate halt to the executions and for fair legal proceedings.
The Iranian government has denied some of the allegations, but concerns about due process and human rights violations persist.
