European Free Alliance

The European Free Alliance (EFA) is a European political party that brings together various regionalist, autonomist, and nationalist parties from across the European Union. Founded in 1981, the EFA represents parties that advocate for the interests of stateless nations, regions, and minority communities within Europe. Its members typically seek greater self-determination, autonomy, or even independence for their respective regions, such as Catalonia, Scotland, Flanders, and the Basque Country.

The EFA's core values center on the promotion of cultural and linguistic diversity, the…   protection of minority rights, and the advancement of democracy at all levels of governance. The party supports the idea of a "Europe of the peoples," where decision-making is brought closer to citizens and regions have a stronger voice within the European Union. The EFA also emphasizes social justice, environmental sustainability, and the peaceful resolution of conflicts. It opposes centralization of power and instead advocates for a federal or confederal structure in Europe, where regions and nations can freely determine their own political future. The EFA works closely with the Greens in the European Parliament, forming the Greens/EFA group, and together they promote progressive policies on social, environmental, and democratic issues.
