There are risks associated with nuclear energy - e.g. Fukushima and Chenobyl ... this could be by accident, nature or terrorism. The cost of maintaining an ongoing power plant is high, as is the management of the waste, generated.
Personally, I would love to see a planned move to renewable energy and perhaps even hold EU wide competitions to see what the potential is.

The two biggest nuclear disasters in history are the disasters in Chernobyl and Fukushima. Though tragic, the environmental impacts of these disasters are localised. On the other hand, global warming and resulting climate change, due to burning fossil fuels, are having massive and unpredictable environmental consequences on a global level.
